MBT awarded $20,000 grant from ABPP:
The Manassas Battlefield Trust awarded one of the 25 grants given out by the American Battlefield Protection Program, a division of the National Park Service that promotes the preservation of significant American battlefield lands for present and future generations as symbols of individual sacrifice and national heritage.
About the award, Trust President Maureen Finnerty said “We are very excited to receive this grant from the ABPP. It will allow us to do important work for the Manassas National Battlefield Park by connecting it more strongly to the community and educating many about the important values of this special place.”
The grant to the Manassas Battlefield Trust will provide funding for the Trust’s recently hired Executive Director, Debra Kathman, as well as the development of outreach and marketing materials to raise awareness about the Trust and its mission.
“We are honored to receive funding from the American Battlefield Protection Program. It comes at just the right time as we are currently working to expand our membership base and get the word out about our organization and its important mission,” said the Trust’s Executive Director, Debra Kathman.
